We have added a new Flash Player to our directory. The player is lanched in a pop-up window when the
button is clicked. You may also have noticed we changed all the tune in icon sizes to 16x16 to enable it to fit. This also standardises all our icons to 16x16 size.
Here is a screen-shot demonstrating the new icons :
This new radio flash player (FFMp3) has only recently been released and appears to be very much better than any other flash players around. It supports Shoutcast and Icecast servers with both MP3 and OGG codecs (this is a first for ogg as far as I know). We had messed around with other flash players in the past but all of them seemed particularly buggy. FFMp3 seems nice and stable and lightweight.
We feel it is important to have a flash player on the site because it is cross platform (only requires flash 10) and avoids some confusion listeners have over which direct tune in link to use. Occasionally some users don't have the relevant software installed or have had their file association broken so clicking on one of the direct tune in links doesn't act as expected.
We would like to point out that we are still testing out this flash player on the site there may still be the odd bug but we are working to iron these out. We will also be improving the design of the player as time goes on. We would appreciate any feedback you may have as well as bug reports.
